Auditions for Witness for the Prosecution
by Agatha Christie; directed by Ida Cooksey
Think of an Agatha Christie play and the setting that normally comes to mind is a creaky country house with a body festering in the library. But Witness For The Prosecution is a world away, taking place wholly in a courtroom setting, as the heir to a fortune protests his innocence after being accused of his benefactor’s murder.

Auditions for Miracle on 34th Street
by Valentine Davies; directed by Martha Mobley
We all love the familiar tale of kindly, bewhiskered man who believes himself to be the real Santa Claus, who is hired to be in the Macy’s parade by a harried young mother who had raised her daughter to not believe in Santa, and the mom’s lawyer/boyfriend who rescues all three of them.
Characters
Kris Kringle - Lovable, kind and warm. The very spirit of Santa Claus, which he claims to be.
Doris Walker - Attractive, no-nonsense, professional woman. Successful single mother who protects and loves her daughter very much. Although she likes Fred and Kris, she struggles with letting them get too close and penetrating the wall she has carefully built up around herself.
Susan Walker - Bright, young girl with a natural curiosity about Kris and who he really is. Despite trying to be like her mother, she begins to see people in a whole new way that opens her eyes to the magic of the world around her.
Fred Gailey - Attractive, professional lawyer who is in love with Doris but can’t seem to break down her defenses. A very warm and thoughtful person whom everyone likes, especially Susan. Does his best to help Kris in his time of need, despite the “practical” advice he gets from Doris.
Mr. Shellhammer - Doris’ head assistant at Macy’s. A kind and likeable fellow who is often nervous and always conscious of doing whatever is politically correct to stay in the good graces of Mr. Macy. Works closely with Miss Adams.
Miss Adams - Assistant to Doris under Mr. Shellhammer. Takes an instant liking to Kris and has no trouble believing his remarkable claim. Very friendly, with a child-like sense of wonder and excitement.
Mr. R. H. Macy - A tycoon whose very presence makes his employees tremble. Tough and stern on the outside, but has a soft spot for Kris and the spirit of Christmas.
Mr. Sawyer - Nervous, mean and very nasty. The villain of the story. His goal from the start is to expose Santa Claus as a myth and Kris as a dangerous fraud.
Judge Henry Harper - Older, father-like figure who oversees the dramatic court scene in the second act. Torn between doing everything according to the strict rule of law, or jeopardizing his political career by officially ruling there is no such person as Santa Claus.
Thomas Mara - Well-meaning District Attorney of the State of New York who has the unenviable job of proving to the court that there is no Santa Claus. Torn between his duty as an officer of the court and his role as a father and husband.
Thomas Mara, Junior - Energetic, likeable young son of the District Attorney who makes a surprise appearance in court.
Dutch Girl - Shy, adorable young girl who timidly approaches Kris at the Macy’s Toy Department and is visibly upset. Does not speak English, and is delighted to discover that Kris really is Santa Claus when he proceeds to speak and sing to her in Dutch.

Auditions for A Thousand Clowns
by Herb Gardner; directed by Tracy Harrington
This benchmark of Broadway comedy produced one of the theatre's most beloved roles: unconventional Murray, uncle to precocious nephew, Nick. Tired of writing cheap comedy gags for "Chipper the Chipmunk", a children's television star, Murray finds himself unemployed with plenty of free time with which to pursue his...pursuits. Lectured by his conventional brother Arnold and hounded by "the system", Murray is paid a visit by bickering, uptight social workers, Sandra and Albert, and finds himself solving their problems as well as most of his own.
Characters
Murray Burns - former writer for the Chuckles the Chipmunk children's show, raising his sister's child who was abandoned at his apartment as a baby.
Nick Burns - Murray's nephew. He's the adult in the family, responsible and level-headed to Murray's eccentric wackiness.
Albert Amundson - self-important social worker.
Sandra Markowitz - shy, naive social worker and Albert's assistant.
Arnold Burns - Murray's long suffering agent and brother.
Leo Herman - Star of the Chuckles the Chipmunk children's show, doesn't like kids or know how to relate to them, needs Murray to write his material.
Auditions: January 10 & 11, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.
Performances: March 3-6, 2011
